This Sunday’s Gala Day is a chance for our community to come together, enjoy a brilliant family day out, and celebrate this year’s theme: the Summer of Sport.
Gala Day is always a special moment in the local calendar. It brings neighbours, families, volunteers, community groups and local organisations together in one place.
It gives people the chance to catch up, support good causes, enjoy activities, and feel proud of the place we call home.
RCC is proud to be part of the day.
This year’s Summer of Sport theme is a great fit. Sport has a real way of bringing people together, whether it is through teamwork, friendly competition, supporting others, or simply having fun. It gives young people confidence, helps families get involved, and creates the kind of energy that makes community events memorable.
At the RCC stall, we will be welcoming people throughout the day. We would love residents to come over, say hello, and find out more about becoming a member. Whether you have known us for years or have never spoken to us before, you will be very welcome.
You do not need to have been involved before. You do not need to know everyone. If you care about the local area, enjoy being part of community life, and want to meet others who feel the same, we would be delighted to chat with you.
Local groups are strongest when new people get involved. New members bring fresh ideas, new energy and different experiences. Gala Day is a relaxed and friendly chance to find out more, ask questions, and see how you can take part.
We will also be holding a raffle at our stall to raise money for the Stroke Association, with a fantastic prize on offer: a dartboard signed by Mitchell Lawrie.
With the Summer of Sport theme running through the day, it is a brilliant prize and a great way to support an important cause. Many families know the impact a stroke can have on someone’s life and on the people around them, so we hope plenty of people will take part and help raise money for the Stroke Association.
There will also be a sports game for children at the RCC stall, helping make the day fun, active and family-friendly. Gala Day should be something everyone can enjoy, and we want young people and families to feel part of it.
These are often the things that make days like this memorable: the stalls, the games, the conversations, the laughter, and the chance to spend time together as a community.
A huge amount of work goes into making Gala Day happen. Events like this do not come together by accident. They take planning, time and effort from volunteers, organisers, local groups and supporters who care about creating something positive for everyone.
That deserves recognition.
Community pride is shown through action. It is shown by people giving up their time, turning up to support local events, helping good causes, and making sure there are moments in the year when families and residents can come together.
This Sunday is a chance to do exactly that.
Come along to enjoy the Summer of Sport. Support the volunteers and organisers who have worked hard to make the day happen. Visit the stalls, take part in the activities, enter the raffle, and help raise money for the Stroke Association.
And while you are there, please come and visit the RCC stall.
Say hello, find out more about becoming a member, let the kids try the sports game, or simply stop by for a chat. We are looking forward to seeing familiar faces, meeting new people, and being part of what should be a brilliant day for the whole community.
Gala Day is a reminder that our community has so much to be proud of: people who care, people who volunteer, people who support one another, and people who want to make local life better.
So let’s make this Sunday a great Gala Day. Let’s enjoy the Summer of Sport, support a good cause, get the kids involved, and celebrate the pride we all have in the place we call home.
