Residents across Renfrew have come together to help create a new public map showing where defibrillators are located across the town.
A few months ago, Renfrew Community Council asked a simple question: “Does anyone know where the defibs are?”
What followed was a strong local response. People shared locations from streets, shops, community centres, sports clubs and workplaces — comparing notes, filling gaps, and helping one another build a clearer picture.
That local knowledge has now been turned into a free, publicly accessible digital map, making it easier for anyone in Renfrew to quickly find the nearest defibrillator in an emergency.
Early access to defibrillators can save lives, particularly in cases of sudden cardiac arrest, where every minute matters. By clearly showing what’s already available locally, the map helps improve awareness, confidence, and community safety.
Residents are encouraged to check the map, share it with family and neighbours, and get in touch if they spot any missing or incorrect locations.
